We are excited to announce 'Forever Violet' This years Highly Honored Landscape Winner NATURE'S BEST® 23rd Annual Windland Smith Rice  International Awards  Smithsonian Exhibition  NOW OPEN through Sept. 2019 From more than 26,000 entries submitted to the 2018 Nature’s Best Photography Windland Smith Rice Awards, sixty images were selected to showcase the extraordinary work of outdoor photographers in 59 countries. United by their creativity and technical skill with a camera, these artists of all ages and experience levels share their visions of nature to inspire its conservation. The print display features the Windland Awards category winners and a selection of the Highly Honored images from the competition, including winners from Nature's Best Photography Asia and the Audubon Photography Awards, and is accompanied by an HD video. John Richter's beautiful image, "Forever Violet" has been selected as a Highly Honored winner in the landscape category. This image was captured in June of 2016 while shooting on location in southern Iceland. Under the luminance of the Sub-Arctic midnight sun, an impossible field of lupine flowers spread across the glacial landscape of Skaftafell National Park.  Launched in 1996, the Nature's Best Photography Awards is an endowed exhibition program run in partnership with the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History—one of the most-visited museums in the world! Located at 1000 Madison Drive, NW, Washington, D.C. FREE and open to the public daily.
