Waking at 4 AM in the depth of January to ski in subzero temperatures was a fine start to this photographic adventure. A popular picnic area in summer, this area has now been closed to winter access to protect sensitive wildlife in their winter habitat. While I didn't meet up with any Megafauna on this morning, I was struck by the shear fortitude it must take to survive in this frozen wilderness.
