In late spring, this aspen grove in Capital Creek was peaking in terms of the colors of spring! Aspen forest are a younger type of forest that thrive and colonize in areas disturbed by natural events such as wildfire and avalanches. As this first stage matures, the trees create a nursery for the hardy conifers that will eventually dominate this very place.
