The blue green waters of Havasu Falls inspires visions of the garden of Eden and tropical paradise. The vibrant hue of the water is attributed to high levels of calcium carbonate yet holds mythical significance to the people of this canyon known as the Havasupai. Ancient traditions speak of the waters being the birthplace of all life, a portal to the 4th dimension. Over many millennia, this river and its namesake waterfalls have endured many violent floods, landslides and destruction hard to imagine while bathing in the angelic mist of the waterfalls spray. This image was captured shortly before one such event that literally changed the course of the river overnight! Havasu falls is a brilliant example of living geology and a testament to our ever evolving natural history.
