Telluride’s Box Canyon is iconic and powerful. In the last ice age, retreating glaciers carved out a U-shaped valley that is now the headwaters of the mighty San Miguel river. This particular view I had observed may times in the early weeks of summer when the light strikes at a unique angle illuminating the cliffs of Ajax mountain while the valley waterfalls thunder in the distance.
