In Magdalena Bay many pelagic species gather each fall to feast on sardines! Bait balls are swarms of silver fish that attract many different predators to the region including the famed Blue Striped Marlin. We competed with other boats and sport fisherman on this day which was largely absent of the type of encounters I had imagined. Fortunately, perseverance paid off and I was able to get very close to this apex predator to capture the beauty of its iridescent body in full hunting mode just a few feet from my camera!
