Bali, Indonesia
While staying on the island of Bali I wanted to capture the essence of the largely pastoral culture of the Indonesian people. Hearing the word“Bali” conjures up such vivid images of a distant and exotic paradise. A land of volcanos and white sand beaches lined with palm trees leaning out into the waves. Our base was in a quieter corner tucked away from the over-touristed areas where life still moves slowly. The people are deeply rooted to the land, their direct ancestors began this unique for of irrigation over a millennium ago in the 9th century. As I got to know the area cruising around on an Indonesian scooter, Mt. Agung’s giant presence was omnipresent and needed play a starring role in the final image. The final image was captured by combing 5 images consecutively using a special panning head on my tripod, resulting in incredibly rich and brilliant detail.
